Just another WordPress.com weblog***008-TV SHOWS
TELEVISION Further to the lists of movies, books and television shows that I saw on my cyberfriend’s MySpace site, here is a list of television shows of my own that I enjoy or have enjoyed in the past. I don’t subscribe to Cable, so I am quite limited in what I can watch, which is fine, because I don’t really watch much television – although I do keep it on for company as one might a radio for background noise and, occasionally, my attention IS caught, usually for movies or documentaries but sometimes for mere fluff like Jim Belushi playing that neanderthal, but somehow still sexy character, in ACCORDING TO JIM …I cannot keep the radio on as often as I get emotionally involved with the songs and get nothing else done!… TV, I can take or leave it…BUT, ahem, even having said that, as I was creating this list, I realized, that I actually DO watch a fair bit! Yikes! For example, I love all of the LAW & ORDER shows and will actually watch reruns, particularly, the series with Vincent d’Onofrio and his partner… Now there’s another sexy but bookwormish loner kind of guy! I guess I like the solitary intellectual ones… I enjoy CSI, the original and the NY shows… I can take or leave the Miami one but sometimes I watch because the stiff cartoonish acting of the red-headed lead fascinates me…and I watch intently and try to figure out if he does it on purpose or if he really is such a bad actor… ‘Here’s what we’re going to…’, says he in his monotone… Blach! …
As for the shows, I wish I knew which day and time, they are on because I don’t watch any of these shows of a weekly basis, although I do watch them as regularly as I can.. I really enjoy Valerie Pringle has Left the Building , a travel show but with the added bonus of Valerie Pringle but I am not even sure I see it more than 3 or 4 times a year!…

This Canadian Science fiction show produced by Dan Ackroyd’s brother…I’ll have to look it up (or force myself to remember it and come back to add it here)
LOST had me rivetted for the first season; it actually used a template for a novel I have been trying to figure out in my head for years now (only it was on Greyhound bus (not on a plane and with no accident); however, the idea that really attracted me was of the indepth look at the characters and then the gentle weaving of how they all crossed paths as in the six-degrees-of-separation being most of the story as opposed to having a plot and plugging in the characters to fit in neatly – then, it quickly got into some kind of adult version of Piggy and Simon and Jack and the rest of the English school boys from Golding’s Lord of the Flies… but not before suggesting that all of the characters had actually died and the island was some kind of purgatory state (as almost each of those killed off early had had some kind of revelation for their respective pasts and achieved some kind of peace before dying (again)… But then, the publicity got bigger than the show and actors who were caught drinking and driving in the real world suddenly, coincidentally, were killed off and it became quite apparent at the end of the first season that the writers had absolutely NO story arc or idea of one and a lot of filler stories… Real shame too, because it was the only new show in recent years that actually caught my attention…
But there is always E.R., as there was St.Elsewhere and other medical shows…and the good old reliable guilty pleasures such as CSI which is sort of, to my mind, replacing the old mysteries filled in by the likes of Columbo and that older writer woman played by Angela Lansbury (Murder She Wrote?)…… and other police and crime/law shows, like the Law & Order series that replace everything from the ModSquad to well, can’t think of any at the moment – too far in the past…
Well, whatever…
This list making thing has got me thinking anyway… and I guess that’s the whole point… I figure, again, if I ever put my mind to it, I’d like to come back and reorganize the list as such that it can be more reader-friendly where comments and personal memories can also be added…
