I used to work for a law firm with an office in NYC; its zipcode was 10020 but that was at least for the whole building – maybe the surrounding area and for even a few blocks…
This morning, on the news, I heard that the 8th floor of Saks Fifth Avenue has gotten its own express zipcode, i.e., 10022….
Can someone spell d e b a u c h e r y ?
…and this, from a woman, i.e., me, who owned about 75-100 pair of shoes at any given moment. These days I only tend to alternate two pairs… both for comfort, although one had a little heel… My four inch heeled shoes and ultra-strappy soft leather sandals and ‘”cockroach killer” super extra pointy and high’, beauties all, just as art objects in and of themselves, are now at the back of the closet… I can’t see giving them to charity… It’s a shame to so do… I’d rather give food…
Anyway, I have to shake my head, yet once again… I had a chat with the man who offered me a job just recently and I was struck that even he, a man of obvious wealth and who does not seem to be wanting for luxury and even seems a bit of a playboy, telling me that humans are, for the most part, selfish and despicable and that animals are really much more deserving of our attention and love and care…
Well, I’ve seen a cat in boots before, but never one in Jimmy Choos, so maybe he has a point… although it is quite lost in the din of consumerism….
A zipcode just for ONE floor of a department store… even me a reformed shoe and leather freak can’t get over this one…
…ah, and the “Queen of Mean”, but let’s not speak ill of the dead, Leona Helmsley passed away as well… I remember her idea that “Only the little people pay taxes” and so we do…
Animals ARE better off; aren’t they?
